What is ToolTwist?
ToolTwist is a Web Marketing Platform that allows marketing people to design and build sophisticated websites, while still allowing technical guys to do their behind-the-scenes magic. At the same time, sophisticated audit and approval processes ensure management retain control. It is made up of 3 sub-applications, namely ToolTwist Workbench, ToolTwist Designer and ToolTwist Controller.
What makes ToolTwist different from other applications?
ToolTwist simplifies and defines tasks. It lessens dependency on the IT Department and allows different users to work on defined tasks. IT can create widgets using existing meta-data or codes. Marketing can easily design and manage the website without IT involvement. This setup radically reduces friction between departments and website users and moves up delivery schedules for the updated web site.
What is ToolTwist Workbench?
ToolTwist Workbench is geared towards the IT Developer. It is an Eclipse-based development environment for creating widgets. ToolTwist Workbench provides a core set of java-based classes that can be used to create widgets for a variety of tasks. The widgets created using ToolTwist Workbench are used in ToolTwist Designer.
What is ToolTwist Designer?
The ToolTwist Designer is a platform that allows the user to create lay out and design websites. It allows the user to add widgets created through ToolTwist Workbench. It also allows the user to define how widgets are placed on a web page and to define the location of navigation points in a web page. Because of its simplified approach, the ToolTwist Designer can easily be used by people with little or no IT background.
What is the ToolTwist Controller?
The ToolTwist Controller acts as the watchdog of a production web site. All website changes must be loaded on the ToolTwist Design Vault and pass through QA and approval workflow before they can be deployed on the live site. The ToolTwist Controller automates tasks that are usually manual and time-consuming, i.e. Version Control, Configuration Management, Workflows for QA and Approval, Automatic Deployment Scheduling and Audit Trail, Logging & Back-tracking. Setup and deployment to production servers is fully-automated.
What is a Widget?
A widget is a portable web application that can be embedded within the HTML used to create webpages. A widget allows content to be added to a page that is not static. It allows code reuse thereby increasing the ease and speed of software development. A widget can contain multiple snippets.
What is a Snippet?
A snippet is a small area of re-usable source code. Snippets are often used to minimize the use of repeated code. Multiple snippets can be used in a widget.
